What would you say to a guy who'll be 59 next month and has never been able to ' get over the hump ' in life?

It seems like I've been climbing this enormously tall ladder forever and ever and it just never leads anywhere. And even worse than that is, it seems that I'm the only fool on this damn ladder. It's a long, lonely ascent and I've grown extremely weary. So really, what the hell is the point in going on? I just no longer see the reason for it.
