Starter switch wiring correct hook up for a 1960 Johnston 75 hp. outboard?

that would confuse me terribly. red is almost always battery. maybe it was different in 1960. the blacks should be the mag. and ground. you got lucky...white is to the solenoid via the "start in gear" switch. now just change the 20a. fuse that you've blown and crank her up.
