Anyone have severe pelvic pain ?

Ok I'm 38 weeks pregnant. Every once in a while I will have this very sharp ( feels like I'm being sliced with a knife to better explain it ) pain down by the front of my pelvis area. kinda feels like its my cervix cause its right up in there. Can these pains be compared to contractions ? Cause if so I don't think I can handle that lol. I have a very high pain tolerance ( covered in tattoos ) but holy crap it stops me in my tracks and I have to wait it out. They arn't contractions and he hasn't dropped and I've had them for about the last 2 months more frequent now though, now what the heck is it? They arnt Braxton hicks either my uterus doesn't contract at all. my doc also said my cervix isn't open at all either. Does anyone else experience this ? or does everyone and i'm just a whiner lol
