Bought a used Pokemon Emerald game with corrupted save data... What should I do?

After previously buying a used Pokemon Emerald game from Ebay that had turned out to be a bootleg of some sort... I decided to go to Gamestop and buy a used Emerald game from there. This one looks authentic (other than the sticker on the cartridge not being holographic), but every time I turn on the game it says something like "corrupted save data, the previous saved game will be loaded". I've been constantly playing and saving the game to see if the saved game corrupts and deletes itself, but nothing has happened yet. Should I return this game and try to find another one?
